GURDJIEFF’S BOOKS

Gurdjieff’s written works that have been published publicly consist of:

  • The Herald Of Coming Good An introductory booklet
  • Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson.  (see ** notes below about 1992 rewrite)
  • Meetings With Remarkable Men The first book of the “three books of the second series:”
  • Life is Real, Only Then When “I am” The first book of “the four books of the fourth series:”
Aside from that, the only other published work of Gurdjieff’s we are aware of is: The Scenario of the Ballet, The Struggle of the Magicians. This was published for the “ballet” that Gurdjieff’s pupils performed both in Paris and New York. It is available as an appendix in To Fathom the Gist: Volume 1 – Approaches to the Writings of G. I. Gurdjieff by Robin Bloor

Also important and worthy of note is: Views from the Real World: Early Talks by G. I. Gurdjieff

** Letter written to protest the 1992 "revision" of The Tales
Interesting piece about the 1992 version of The Tales - don't be so quick to take a side!
